Personal Statement
Professor Aderolu currently is a renowned researcher with almost thirty (30) years research in Aquaculture and animal nutrition. Throughout his career, Aderolu has utilised various industrial and agricultural waste products such as plantain peels, noodle waste and rice husk for the production of various Monogastric animals’ feeds. He is also an expert in the use of various microorganisms like fungi for biodegradation of various fibrous feed, enriching protein composition of feed ingredients with yeast and bacteria and the screening of probiotics organisms. His research works has also explored various dietary interventions for the improvement of African catfish, Tilapia and major India carps’ health and growth performances. Investigating the effects of natural additives such as onion peel powder, terrestrial medicinal plants and herbal concoctions. Some plants with anti-nutritional factors and as such having minimal nutritional potentials, such as Jatropha curcas, mucuna seed and Sun hemp are now purified either as protein concentrate or isolates for better protein utilisation and metabolic responses. Exploration of aquatic resources especially micro-algae as repository of bioactive compound with antioxidants, immune-stimulatory and antimicrobial functions as possible alternatives to synthetic antibiotics also well researched. He is also well versed in the use of nanoparticles synthesis of fish drugs and the use of molecular tools, like gene expression studies, meta-genomics for efficient fish and environmental health harmony. Aderolu’s work has garnered attention and support from various institutions, including, Central institute of fisheries education India, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University and Health Canada, reflecting his influence in the academic community. His dedication to research and education continues to inspire future generations of scientists in the field of aquaculture and environmental sustainability. Aderolu and his research group are currently working on the utilization of medicinal plants products, valorisation of waste to wealth Nanoparticles synthesis and utilization in aquaculture, Gene expression studies and metagenomics in Aquatic animals and environmental health sustainability.
