Personal Statement
I am a senior lecturer in the department of Marine Pollution and Management at the Department of Marine Sciences, University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has more than fifteen years teaching and research experience in marine and maritime pollution management, marine ecosystem health risk assessment and green shipping. Before joining the University of Lagos as a lecturer II in 2014, I had worked as a Principal Research Officer, and Protem Head, marine productivity at the Nigerian Institute for Oceanographu and Marine Researc, (NIOMR), Lagos, Nigeria. I have also served served as a visiting scientist on environment related areas to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rabat, Morocco; Centre National de la Researché Scientifique (CNRS), Roscoff, France; Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Selangor, Malaysia; Institut français de recherche pour l’exploitation de la mer (ifremer), Nantes, France; and Università degli Studi della Tuscia, Italy. I am a Fellow of the Nigeria Environmental Society (FNES); Member (PoC), Partnership for the Observation of Global Ocean (POGO); Associate member, Marine Mammals Observation Association (MMOA), Affiliate member, Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), and Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) certified for MMO/MFO/PAM. I am also a POGO nominated representative at the United Nations Ocean Convention (UNOC) holding in Nice, France between June 9th -13th, 2025.
