 Personal Statement

I am an early career researcher specializing in the utilization of seafood by-products and the development of a blue circular economy. I am a 2023 An Taisce climate ambassador and I proudly champion UN-SDGs and STEM initiatives as well as community development and advocacy. My aspirations lie in the realms of academic research, science communication, policy and social entrepreneurship. My interests span across various thematic areas including fisheries by-products utilization, eco-innovation, blue economy; food security, climate action and resilience, ocean literacy, WASH initiatives and cultivating partnerships for the promotion of translational research.

 Positions, Scientific Appointments and Honours

  • Post doctoral visiting researcher, Instituto de Investigacións Mariñas (IIM) – CSIC, Vigo, Spain. January 2025 – April 2025.
  • 1st place winner, 3-Minute Thesis Competition, Awarded by South East Technological University, Waterford Campus, Ireland. May, 2023.
  • 2nd place winning team. 2-day residential hackathon. Circular economy: Create a sustainable future for our region. Organized by ArcLabs, SETU, Waterford, Ireland.
  • Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship. Awarded by the Irish Research Council. 2021.
  • Waterford Institute of Technology PhD Scholarship. Awarded by Waterford Institute of Technology. 2019 – 2021.
  • Certificate of commendation for meritorious service to Oyo State. Awarded by the National Youth Service Corps, Oyo state. 2015. This award was for my STEM advocacy and education literacy project carried out in Oyo State, Nigeria.
