Personal Statement
I am a plant scientist with a background in plant systematics and genetics, dedicated to enhancing plant diversity and resilience through integrative research approaches. Driven by the passion to address climate-mediated food insecurities, my research focuses on improving the resilience and diversity of food systems. I utilize cutting-edge genomic science to unravel the potential of orphan crops such as bambara groundnut and cowpea to complement major crops for a more resilient and nutritionally diverse future agricultural system. I am committed to continuing this integrative approach, leveraging both classical systematics and modern molecular approaches to drive climate-resilient and sustainable innovations for the 21st century and beyond.
