Personal Statement

I am a Town Planner, an Architect and a Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria, where I have served as the Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning at several periods. I also served as the Dean of Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the same university. I was visiting Professor at the following universities: Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Bells University of Technology, Ota, Nigeria and Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. I have made significant contribution to the theoretical and empirical understanding of the dynamics of urban land use planning and sustainable development through teaching, research, publications and project supervision in which I have supervised ten (10) Ph.D research in Urban Planning and Architecture. I have also served as external examiner and assessor to 20 universities. My planning projects portfolio experience include review of the Lagos State Regional Master Plan, Ikorodu Region Master Plan, National Memorial Park, Abuja, Bwari Master Plan, Abuja and preparation of the World Bank/IFPRI report on Improving Land Sector Governance in Nigeria. I served as an urban expert for the UN-Habitat on the Urban Ecology and Resilience in preparation for Habitat III, 2016, Quito, Ecuador and at the UN-Habitat Africa Regional Meeting Abuja Declaration position on the New Urban Agenda, 2016. I was a resource person on Nigeria National Urban Policy organized by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. I also served as the Chairman of the 10-Year Strategic Development Plan of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, 2024.
