Personal Statement

I am a female early-career faculty member focusing on parasitic infections among vulnerable groups, especially school-aged children in rural endemic communities. My goal is to translate research findings into actionable interventions by collaborating with communities, NGOs, and governments. I intend using implementation research to address gaps between interventions and outcomes. My research interests align with advancing global health through partnerships and securing international grants. I through mentorship and team-based research will be able to addressing critical questions related to neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations. With training in molecular biology and diagnostics, I remain competitive in modern research trends. Currently, I am exploring bioinformatics in drug discovery to tackle increasing drug resistance in NTD treatments. Additionally, I seek opportunities to deepen my understanding of parasitic diseases through specialized training. My ultimate goal is to drive innovation beyond traditional research by contributing to drug discovery and improved diagnostic tools tailored to the African context. By combining advanced techniques and interdisciplinary approaches, I aim to create impactful, sustainable solutions for parasitic diseases in underserved populations.
