- Personal Statement
Dr. Sogbanmu is an Environmental Toxicologist and Pollution Management Specialist with ~20 years of experience in the risk assessment and management of organic pollutants using transdisciplinary approaches. This is with a view to providing targeted environmental management advice to evidence or knowledge users. She is an ardent researcher with several publications and a serial multiple award/grant-winning scholar in environmental research, environmental evidence leadership, science communication and policy. She is recognized in the environmental field evidenced by her receipt of awards such as the Africa Evidence Leadership Award by the Africa Evidence Network in 2022; L’Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science, Sub-Saharan Africa Award, 2014, among others. Dr Sogbanmu is an advocate of the UN SDGs 6, 11, 13, and 14, African Union Agenda 2063 Goal 7, Science and Risk Communication, Evidence for Policy and Researcher Visibility for Societal Impact. She holds a doctorate degree as well as Certificates in Management, Human Resource Management, and Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWiN). She is the Founder of the Evidence Use in Environmental Policymaking in Nigeria (EUEPiN) and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos where she leads the Environmental Evidence Synthesis and Knowledge Translation Research Cluster, TETFund Centre of Excellence in Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management (EESKT-TCEBCEM).
