My primary research focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in fungal and bacterial pathogens of significant public health concern. I employ a holistic One Health approach to investigate these organisms at the human &#8211; animal &#8211; environment interface, acknowledging the critical interconnectedness of ecosystems in the emergence and spread of resistance. A major emphasis of my work has been on WHO-priority pathogens including methicillin-resistant <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant <em>Enterococcus<\/em> spp., and extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) &#8211; and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae, and clinically important <em>Candida<\/em> species, among others.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Beyond exploring conventional mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, my work also investigates alternative antimicrobial strategies, particularly the potential of natural products as alternative to traditional antibiotic therapy.
