His work focuses on understanding <em><i>Plasmodium falciparum<\/i><\/em>\u00a0drug resistance and tracking insecticide resistance\u2014critical challenges in modern disease control. His current research delves into screening indigenous medicinal plants for antimalarial properties and conducting resistance monitoring using WHO-standard protocols\u2014a testament to his commitment to combining traditional knowledge with scientific rigor. Prof. Idowu\u2019s scholarly footprint includes over 90 peer-reviewed publications and the successful supervision of ten Ph.D. candidates. He\u2019s a trusted peer reviewer for top-tier journals and has attracted grants, such as the MIM-TDR\/WHO Malaria Research Capability Strengthening Grant, as well as University of Lagos-funded studies on mosquito diversity and schistosomiasis drug efficacy. His collaborative projects with the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) on viral hemorrhagic fevers and consultancy work with GTZ\/LAFIA PHC reflect his broad impact across Nigeria\u2019s public health landscape. In the academic community, Prof. Idowu serves on key university committees, including the Central Research Committee and as Chairman of the Animal Ethics Committee. He also lends his expertise as an external examiner to postgraduate programmes across Nigerian universities.
